Zurich Classic Secures Title Sponsorship Through 2030

The Zurich Classic, the PGA Tour’s only two-man team event, has announced a long-term title sponsorship renewal with Zurich Insurance. This new agreement will last until 2030. This announcement further highlights the historic significance of the event as it returns to professional golf. In doing so, it highlights its decades-long dedication to uplifting the local community.

This year, the Zurich Classic will be played at the Pete Dye-designed TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana. Since 2005, this event has been one of the most anticipated spectacles on the PGA Tour calendar. It brings together the entire golf community—fans, amateurs, and professionals alike—in a thrilling team format. The inaugural event happened only a few months before the winds and floods of Hurricane Katrina leveled the region. This timing makes its new ongoing presence all the more meaningful.

Golfers Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry return as the defending champions of the Zurich Classic. Their partnership is a great representation of the friendship that the event creates, giving players the opportunity to compete with their family members and friends. As for Rory McIlroy, this year’s tournament will mark his first appearance, following his long-anticipated victory at the Masters on April 13. That victory clinched his career Grand Slam!

This year’s winning team of the Zurich Classic will each receive 400 FedEx Cup points. Along with the title, they’ll be taking home a big winner’s prize of $1.66M. Through the years, the event has distributed more than $30 million to local charitable organizations. This amazing accomplishment only underscores its importance to the local community.

Kristof Terryn, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich North America, said that they take pride themselves in the long-term relationship with New Orleans.

“Our connection to this resilient city runs deep, and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans has supported that resilience over the past two decades,” – Kristof Terryn

This partnership extension aligns with the remaining years on the PGA Tour’s television broadcast rights contracts, ensuring that fans can continue to enjoy this distinctive event for years to come. Competing this year is 2022 champion Matt Fitzpatrick of England, who will lead a strong field primed to take home the trophy.
