Zimbabwe snatched a thrilling one-run win over Sri Lanka in the second T20I to level the T20 series at 1-1. The game, hosted at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe, featured both teams laying it all on the line and showing off flashy foot skills.
Bennett did most of the damage to the combined total, scoring 19 runs from just 23 balls. His innings featured just one four, for a strike rate of just 82.61. At the other end, Marumani brought out the fireworks clattering 17 runs off just 12 deliveries including three fours. Marumani’s strike rate of 141.67 demonstrates this shown as he clearly scored freely during that middle order collapse under extreme duress.
Williams did everything he could with a stellar showing, yet he still had a woeful performance. He failed to score having faced two balls, making no difference to the match. Raza would fall short, scoring just two runs from seven balls. The team found some stability in Burl, who scored 20 runs off 22 balls, contributing to the innings’ overall strength.
Musekiwa’s contribution towards the end of the innings was vital with his quick fire 21 runs helping her cause to boost Zimbabwe’s total. His aggressive innings provided the right kind of thrust as the team from the subcontinent planned to hunt down in a big way their formidable target.
The individual and collective efforts of our players showed in an all-round performance that earned Zimbabwe an important equalizer in the series. That same team-led energy will take them into the second leg as they build confidence and motivation forward again.
