The Qatar Masters unfolded at the Doha Golf Club with a memorable performance by a 13-year-old golfer. This young athlete shot a 3-over 75 during the first round, marking only his second appearance in a European tour event. Representing Qatar, the Russian national displayed remarkable skill and had a promising chance of advancing to the weekend rounds.
Daniil Sokolov was another notable participant in the tournament. He started strong, being 2-under after the initial four holes. However, as the round progressed, Sokolov encountered challenges, picking up four bogeys and a double bogey. These setbacks resulted in him dropping into a tie for the 105th position.
Despite these challenges, the tournament remained fiercely competitive. A total of 12 players were yet to complete their rounds when play was suspended. At that point, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and Brandon Robinson Thompson were tied for the lead, both sitting on an impressive 6-under par.
The involvement of Niall Horan's management group added an extra layer of prestige to the event. Their participation underscores the significance of the Qatar Masters within the golfing community and highlights its appeal to players and spectators alike.
