Vaibhav Suryavanshi, an extraordinary 14-year-old cricketer, recently gained national attention. He has just set yet another record as the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 cricket! Previously, Suryavanshi played for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He wowed the world when he scored an unbelievable 101 runs in just 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans, cementing his skills on cricket’s biggest stage.
Incredibly, Suryavanshi made his first-class debut for Bihar at the age of just 12. Since then, he has only furthered his place as a larger-than-life personality for Indian cricket. Last year he got IPL teams interested. They signed him for £103,789 (1.1 crore rupees) at the auction — a cool £60,000 under the CAP! This contract opened his path to the coveted tournament of champions. Earlier this April, he set another record, as the youngest player ever to appear in the IPL.
Suryavanshi put on a show against the Gujarat Titans. His hundred became the fastest ever by an Indian player in the history of the IPL. He announced his callup by hitting a magnificent 6 off the famous spinner Rashid Khan. This amazing blow led him to the second-fastest three figures in the league’s storied annals. The young batsman’s innings featured seven fours and an astounding eleven sixes, proof of his power and precision.
Suryavanshi’s partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal was just as impressive, as the two combined for a seemingly unbreakable 166-run stand. This collaboration not only bolstered their team’s total but demonstrated Suryavanshi’s ability to perform under pressure alongside seasoned players.
Suryavanshi has been the talk of the town with a terrific average of 44 runs in IPL. So far, he has scored a whopping 176 runs, which makes him a player to keep an eye on. He has played in five Ranji Trophy matches for Bihar. In those games combined he only made 100 runs total, and his top score in any of those matches was only 41 runs. He was the mainstay in India’s Under-19 Asia Cup squad last year. This unique experience allowed him to build his credentials at a surprisingly young age.
Suryavanshi’s accomplishments have created tremendous buzz amongst cricket aficionados and pundits. Gradually, they have started to identify his immense potential to carve a clear future roadmap for Indian cricket. Having made his first-class debut at age 16, he quickly became the youngest-ever player to make a mark on the IPL. His remarkable story continues to be a source of motivation for all aspiring cricketers across the country.
