Celtic’s manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that forward Adam Yang’s future with the club is secure for the time being, as the team navigates its current squad situation. Yang has been a key pass artist for the team, making a huge impact in every single game. His departure would not be coming soon. Both he and the board are committed to Celtic for as long as they can find no appropriate alternatives.
Rodgers said that as much as there is excitement about Yang, the club’s focus has to be on establishing a solid foundation. “There’s interest in Adam but like I’ve said to the club, we can’t let anyone go, especially on the front line, unless we have replacements,” he remarked. This feeling continues to drive Celtic’s decision to make sure they have the right people in place before even thinking about signing players.
The recent controversy surrounding Yang has led to introspection and discussion within the advocacy club. Rodgers emphasized that he is not in any rush to move Yang, adding, “I’m not in any rush to move Adam, that’s the honesty of it and he’s not obviously in any big rush to leave either.” Yang strikes an upbeat tone about his newfound role. This indicates a deep level of commitment from both the player and management to his long-term future at the club.
Celtic’s board, in particular its long-term member Dermot Desmond, have been lauded for their strong governance over the years. Rodgers gave credit to the organization for their ability to sell players for a profit but invest that money back into their roster. “The club’s so well run, with the board, with Dermot, it’s been that way for many years. Clearly like we’re selling players, we make a ton of cash, but we do invest cash, too. So the investment’s there,” he stated.
Adding further depth to the squad, Celtic recently signed Belgian winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha on a five-year contract from Royal Antwerp. At 24 years of age, Balikwisha adds youthful flair to the squad and has even trained with Celtic, impressing during his time. He could appear for his debut in a replacement during the return match against the Glasgow Rangers. This only adds to the intrigue surrounding his incorporation into the lineup.
Rodgers didn’t deny that Balikwisha’s presence made a quick impact on the team, though. The manager noted that having additional capable players is essential for maintaining competitive performance. “I always think that’s really important because that’s something I felt that we could have had, maybe, leading into the game, then it would certainly give us a better possibility,” he added.
As Celtic prepares for its next fixtures, the focus remains on building a strong team dynamic while carefully managing player transitions. Yang’s predicament is a great example of the club’s strategic tactics. Every decision they make on a daily basis directly fosters their long-term fiscal health and prosperity.
