Wrexham’s Global Appeal Bolsters Record Revenue Turnover

Wrexham AFC recently posted £5.8million turnover! This remarkable expression of support truly underscores the club’s growing worldwide popularity, since being purchased by film stars and fellow Americans Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The club had boastingly declared a record revenue of £26.7 million in its most recent accounts. This is a paltry 155 percent increase over the same time last year! The spike in income demonstrates the reach of Wrexham’s international fan club. This initiative has grown to represent 25 percent of all club memberships!

The new global membership scheme further underscores Wrexham’s emerging popularity on the international stage. In fact, more than half of its record turnover—more than 52.1 percent—is generated outside of Europe. A good part of this revenue was gained from their North America. Much of that growth was propelled by Wrexham’s surging popularity in the United States.

X – Wrexham achieved a smart financial coup by completely repaying £15.02 million in shareholder loans. This payment covered millions in interest due to Reynolds and McElhenney’s company. This repayment came after the accounting close for the relevant accounting period, indicating the club’s strong dedication to sound financial practices.

Wrexham’s spectacular rise to prominence has been significantly aided by the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Disney Plus documentary series. Though the documentary itself neither contributes nor directly drives financial returns, its reach offers untold worldwide brand visibility for the Wrexham brand.

“While the documentary does not contribute any direct financial return for the club, it delivers incredible global exposure for the Wrexham brand and provides the club with a unique marketing platform that can be monetised through the delivery of TV exposure for our partners,” – Wrexham

The club’s commercial revenue jumped from £1.83 million to £13.18 million. It’s this incredible expansion that you see represented in the most recent set of accounts. Despite this amazing growth Wrexham still posted an overall loss of £2.73 million. This is a step up from last year’s £5.11 million deficit.

Wrexham is doing great on the pitch and off the pitch. Naturally, they currently find themselves in second place in League One, seven matches to go. With the fourth instalment of their documentary series now well into production, global scrutiny is set to continue.

“This action will help facilitate the raising of funding to meet the costs of the club’s capital projects going forward,” – Wrexham
