Their industrious work is important as Worcestershire seeks to post a competitive score and lower the deficit.
Essex’s Jacob Duffy was instrumental in dismantling Worcestershire’s top order, taking 4 wickets for 39 runs. He was backed-up with good effect by Matthew Waite who took 3-47. The duo’s performance, with a strong showing from players like Jamie Porter and Sam Cook, underscores the strength of Essex’s bowling often without Cook.
Worcestershire qualified for the top flight in 2023, making it one of the most impressive underdog stories this year. Today, the team is eager to build on their momentum from last season. They’ve won the last two advances in 2024 already. Now, all the pressure is on to replicate that performance at Essex and build on their opening day victory at Chelmsford.
