Women’s World Cup Schedule Unveiled with Exciting Matches Ahead

Women’s World Cup schedule now officially locked in! Looking forward to an exciting tournament in India that everyone—fans and players—will enjoy. The tournament will open on September 30, 2023, when host nation India takes on Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. Even more exciting, this year’s tournament is taking place entirely on turf! It now includes bilateral test matches played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a product of the longstanding India-Pakistan arrangement.

The tournament will feature three primary host cities in India: Bengaluru, Guwahati, and Visakhapatnam. Bengaluru will be pivotal, as it will be the city to host the opening match and one of the semi-final matches. The final will take place on November 2, with either Bengaluru or Colombo chosen as the venue. The two semi-finals will be held on October 29 in Guwahati/Colombo and October 30 in Bengaluru.

For England, they will hope to carry their recent success into the tournament. The team ended its 21-year wait for the World Cup at Lord’s in 2017. It was the last time they won an ICC tournament. Even though England made it to the final of the last 50-over classic in 2022, they lost to Australia. All eyes on the English side, who are expected to meet Australia again – this time in the group stages – on October 22.

Australia, the defending champions, will open their campaign against New Zealand in Indore on October 1. With past performances like these, Australia looks to be a tough match at every stage of the tournament. This serves to raise the stakes even more, as England and Australia have forged one of the most intense rivalries in all of international cricket.

India’s team is considered among the favorites to win the title this year. After hosting the previous edition of the Women’s World Cup in 2013, India will look to make the most of home conditions. Their games against Sri Lanka will open the tournament. Not only will this game mark their introduction to Poison, but it will set the tone for their journey to come.

Colombo will be the venue for all seven of Pakistan’s group matches. This includes blockbuster games with India and England, leaving fans from both countries electrified.

With anticipation building towards this inaugural event, teams are prepared to explode into a new season that promises plenty. Our fans are looking forward to an amazing celebration of women’s cricket! The finalized calendar gives teams the ability to plan and plot their paths. Each game has the ability to shape their route to the rounds of 16 and beyond.
