It now includes bilateral test matches played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a product of the longstanding India-Pakistan arrangement.
The tournament will feature three primary host cities in India: Bengaluru, Guwahati, and Visakhapatnam. Bengaluru will be pivotal, as it will be the city to host the opening match and one of the semi-final matches. The final will take place on November 2, with either Bengaluru or Colombo chosen as the venue. The two semi-finals will be held on October 29 in Guwahati/Colombo and October 30 in Bengaluru.
For England, they will hope to carry their recent success into the tournament. The team ended its 21-year wait for the World Cup at Lord’s in 2017. It was the last time they won an ICC tournament. Even though England made it to the final of the last 50-over classic in 2022, they lost to Australia. All eyes on the English side, who are expected to meet Australia again – this time in the group stages – on October 22.
Australia, the defending champions, will open their campaign against New Zealand in Indore on October 1.
