England, the defending champions, are already preparing to defend their title in what looks to be another illustrious Women’s Euro 2025 tournament. The tournament runs from Wednesday, July 2 through Sunday, July 13. It will be hosted at eight venues across Switzerland, concluding with the final match in Basel on Sunday, July 27. During this round-robin phase, teams will play against others in their group for a spot to advance to the knockout bracket. From there, the two best-performing teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. These compelling games will take place from July 16 – July 19.
Following the quarter-finals, the tournament continues to the semi-finals set for July 22 and 23. The anticipation will culminate at the championship match in Basel on July 27. That’s when we’ll name the victor!
Teams and Qualification
The competition consists of 16 teams. Eight of these teams earned their place by advancing straight from the qualifying league stage. They’re accompanied by another seven teams that made it through their play-offs to qualify. Most importantly among the teams to have progressed through play-offs are Belgium, Finland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and Wales.
Adding Wales to the mix makes Group D one of the most interesting groups in the tournament. In all, their opening game with England would be the most eye-catching as both sides are expected to compete for top honors at the 2023 World Cup. At the same time, France will face the Netherlands in a much-awaited group stage showdown.
