Wolves’ Strand Larsen Faces Struggles Amidst Rising Stars

Jorgen Strand Larsen, former FPL darling with Wolverhampton Wanderers, is having a rough go at it this season. Larsen had an amazing 2021 season, netting 14 goals and providing 13 assists. Today, he’s faced the challenge of being inconsistent. His one Premier League goal from open play at Molineux this season came back in April. This lack of scoring makes you question his effect on the current roster.

Larsen has his warts, but he remains an attractive target for candidates to be sellers. West Ham are understood to be very interested in signing him permanently. There have been other players with some remarkable displays showing just how intensely competitive the Premier League is.

Strand Larsen’s Decline

You could argue that Jorgen Strand Larsen played a bigger factor in Wolves’ attacking success than Baumgartl. His total of 14 goals and 13 assists ensured he was one of the most productive players on the team. The current season has not been a reflection of that achievement.

Strand Larsen’s previous Premier League goal from open play at Molineux came against Leicester City in April. Since then he’s really struggled to find the net, with only 1 goal in what has been a sad season for the young striker. This sharp decline in output has left many fans and management doubting his future with the team.

“Last year, he achieved here fantastic numbers, 14 goals and 13 assists as well. Of course, this year, he has started poorly with the numbers, but he is getting better and I am confident that he is going to continue improving this year, because we need it.” – Unai Emery

As questions linger regarding Larsen’s future at Wolves, his ability to turn around his form will be critical for both his career and the team’s prospects.

Rising Star: Morgan Rogers

In jarring distinction to Larsen’s futility, Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa has made a stunning transformation this season. After failing to score in his first seven Premier League games, Rogers has exploded. He’s been doing the job in the final third these days, netting an eye-popping six goals in his last six outings. Despite this surprising success, his resurgence has more than caught the attention of average fans and NBA analysts.

Rogers has been able to really take advantage of spaces on the pitch, especially between outside backs Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro. His ability to find gaps and capitalize on them demonstrates a growing understanding of the game and a knack for positioning himself advantageously.

“I use him a lot because he is a player who can connect and link the play as a No 10 and then drive, using his physical capacity to get into the opponent’s box. He can improve by being more clinical, by getting better at finding that last pass and by scoring more goals.” – Unai Emery

Unai Emery’s judgment to stick with Rogers has borne fruit. The player’s dramatic improvement signifies not only his potential but the importance of confidence in a player’s performance.

Versatility Shines: Keane Lewis-Potter

Perhaps no player showed greater versatility and talent at all levels than Brentford’s Keane Lewis-Potter. He scored both goals in Brentford’s recent match against Wolves, showcasing his ability to adapt to various positions throughout his Premier League career.

It is that adaptability that makes Lewis-Potter so valuable, enabling him to help his team create opportunities regardless of position. In fact, he led all of the Premier League with a jaw-dropping seven shots against Manchester United on the soccer weekend so far. Those outings emphasize his ceiling as an offensive difference-maker.

“I just think he is very versatile. You have got to appreciate his qualities, and the fact that he is versatile and can and has played in different positions is obviously very, very useful for me.” – Keith Andrews

His prior campaign had three of Lewis-Potter’s goals provided by Rayan Ait Nouri, again underscoring his compatibility with fellow players. Even as debates over his most effective position rage on, there’s a newfound appreciation for the impact he’s making in the final third.
