Williamson Joins Middlesex for 2025: A Stellar Addition to County Cricket

Kane Williamson, New Zealand's cricketing maestro, is set to join Middlesex for the 2025 season, adding his illustrious career to the English county scene. Middlesex confirmed Williamson's participation in both the County Championship and Vitality Blast, promising fans a thrilling cricketing spectacle. This seasoned batsman will be available for at least 10 of Middlesex's 14 T20 Blast group fixtures and five County Championship matches during the latter half of the campaign.

Williamson, aged 34, has previously played in England with Gloucestershire in 2011 and 2012, and Yorkshire from 2013 to 2018. His return to England marks a significant moment for county cricket enthusiasts. His impressive stats include over 18,000 runs and 47 centuries in 366 appearances for New Zealand. With an average of 54.88 in Test matches—the highest in his country's history—Williamson remains the Black Caps' all-time leading Test run-scorer, amassing 9,276 runs across 105 matches.

Williamson will also lend his expertise to the Lord's-based Hundred side, London Spirit, as their captain. Meanwhile, he will join Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League in mid-April, showcasing his global appeal and versatility in different formats.

Alan Coleman expressed his enthusiasm about Williamson’s signing for Middlesex.

"To have secured one of the most talented players in the world game is a real coup," – Alan Coleman

Williamson himself echoed this excitement about returning to county cricket.

"I've played a bit of county cricket in the past, but not for a number of years now, so when this opportunity arose with Middlesex it was a really exciting prospect," – Williamson

Williamson stepped down as New Zealand's white-ball captain last season but continues to be a pivotal figure in international cricket. He was named player of the tournament at the 2019 World Cup and has been featured in seven of the past 10 annual International Cricket Council men's Test Team of the Year awards.
