West Ham Eyes Andre Silva Loan Amid Striker Hunt

The January transfer window has opened, and West Ham United is actively engaged in advanced discussions with RB Leipzig to secure the services of Portuguese striker Andre Silva. The proposed deal involves a loan until the season's end, with an option to buy. Silva, a seasoned international player with 53 caps and 19 goals for Portugal, could be a significant boost for West Ham's striking options.

Andre Silva's football journey began at Porto, and his career has since taken him to notable clubs such as AC Milan, Sevilla, and Eintracht Frankfurt, before his current stint at RB Leipzig. West Ham's pursuit of Silva comes after their unsuccessful attempts to sign Aston Villa's Jhon Duran. Despite their long-standing interest, Villa rejected the Hammers' bid for Duran, who recently extended his contract until 2030.

Aston Villa remains firm in their stance not to sell Duran, valuing the young striker at over £70 million. West Ham's summer bid for Duran failed to meet this valuation, frustrating their efforts to bolster their attacking lineup. Duran has shown promising form this season, netting seven goals in 19 Premier League appearances, but remains behind Ollie Watkins in Unai Emery's forward choices.

West Ham's offer for Jhon Duran reportedly stood at £57 million; however, there are conflicting reports about the precise figure. As they continue their search for a new striker, Ajax's Brian Brobbey has also emerged as a potential target for the club.
