For Derbyshire, slow left-armer Fateh Singh had a memorable match, taking two wickets in two balls. His work though, proved pale in comparison to the onslaught produced by Lancashire’s batsman. He clubbed five sixes in an extraordinarily powerful innings that led Surrey to victory and set them up perfectly for the final, continuing their rich vein of form. This success is Surrey’s third in their past four nights of action, an indication of the team’s rising confidence as the season nears its midway point.

From the day four Yorkshire vs Durham match, Adam Lyth made 38 runs. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to find any support, with four Durham bowlers taking two wickets apiece to dismiss Yorkshire for a mere 130 runs. By contrast, Aussie Caleb Jewell was a beacon of light during a dismal season for Yorkshire, leading the club in runs with 65 at the start of the season.

Northamptonshire set themselves a high bar for the season and furthered their cause with a brilliant start, opening with six wins from six matches. They have demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving five of those victories while batting first, showcasing their ability to set challenging targets for opponents.

Essex experienced a second straight letdown. They continued to be winless when they lost at home to Kent by 47 runs. Tawenda Muyeye was in the news after hitting his maiden T20 century, a brisk 100 off 59 balls. His remarkable form has been a key factor for Kent, who made short work of Essex with an easy seven-wicket triumph.
