With Week 6 of the NFL season upon us, fantasy football fans are faced with some important lineup-decisions. In true fantasy fashion, major players such as Christian McCaffrey, Rachaad White, and Josh Allen have quickly turned into must-start lineup locks. At the same time, Alvin Kamara and Michael Carter provide exciting flex plays. From here on out, this week will be make or break for countless teams as they deal with the balance of injuries and the hint of underperformers.
Christian McCaffrey—No surprise here as McCaffrey has established himself as a must-start. His consistently great play during the season has backed up why he’s been an important piece to fantasy lineups. Rachaad White continues to show he is a week-in, week-out points producer. He’s a strong option and clear-cut lineup lock for Week 6. As media darling Emeka Egbuka has bolstered a recent production run that’s been crazy impressive. In doing so, he’s forced his way into the fantasy lineups.
Key Lineup Locks
Alongside McCaffrey and White, there are a few other players fantasy managers can’t miss out on who are locks to help their teams. Chris Godwin Jr. and Bijan Robinson are other lineup locks this week. Their capacity to constantly score and gain significant yardage turn them into indispensable possessions.
Josh Allen remains an elite QB1 play. His dual-threat ability will make him a scoreboard-busting scoring machine. He’s able to score points both in the air and on the ground, further cementing his must-start credentials. James Cook After a very strong season, Cook has all but locked himself into an every-week lineup play, as week-to-week he has delivered dependable production. Finally, Drake London’s emergence has proven to be a necessary piece for any championship caliber fantasy roster.
Flex Options to Consider
Though a number of players have carved serious niches for themselves in starting roles, many others are more appropriate for flex capacity. Alvin Kamara is one of many flexed into lineups this week. His newfound versatility is evident with Moore thriving and contributing to both rushing and receiving attacks. This can create fantastic opportunities for lucky fantasy owners.
Michael Carter has similarly been featured in flex option pieces. For the short-term, at least, analyst Mike Clay was skeptical about Carter making an immediate splash this week. His play has been inconsistent and fantasy managers are looking to move elsewhere.
“Why Mike Clay is low on Cardinals RB Michael Carter” – Mike Clay
Despite his performance against the Eagles, Darnold has a pretty weak history coming into Week 6. He has completed on no higher than 18th place, with only one run better than that. That brings into question just how viable he can be as a starting quarterback in fantasy leagues.
Players to Avoid
As always, while some players dazzle, others deserve to find their asses planted firmly on benches this week. Miller fits squarely in the camp of players who should not be in fantasy lineups as starters. His performances have simply not been up to snuff on a regular basis to earn the spot in the starting rotation.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba really jumped out this week along with Brian Thomas Jr. Their unique skillset puts them in position to take advantage of favorable matchups. Their performances might determine if they go from benchwarmers to lineup locks going forward.
>Quinyon Mitchell has traveled with his team in all five games this season and has matched up against notable receivers such as George Pickens, Hollywood Brown, Davante Adams, Emeka Egbuka, and Courtland Sutton. Jaren Jackson Jr’s reliability on the offensive end has moved him ahead of others in talks between strong defensive matchups making noise in fantasy leagues.
