With Week 14 of the NFL season coming up, fantasy football managers need to be strategic with their lineups. This week is stacked with potential waivers and breakout players that could change the course of fantasy matchups this week. Almost-celebrity players such as Tyler Allgeier, Devaughn Vele, Adonai Mitchell, Trevor Lawrence are easily recognizable. Each player brings something extraordinarily valuable to the table that excels in deep league formats.
Tyler Allgeier can’t be stopped from scoring, making him a league-winning option. He’s as valuable as anyone for players in deeper leagues. Throughout the season, Allgeier has rushed for a touchdown in four of his last six games, proving to be a reliable red-zone presence. His experience, work ethic, and scoring ability will bring immense value to their young core. Managers looking to bolster their running back depth for the playoff run should absolutely look his way.
Emerging Wide Receiver Options
He’s stealthily been one of the most exciting flier options at WR so far. His remarkable performance against the Miami Dolphins in Week 13 officially put him on the scene. Vele finished with 23.3 points, as he caught all eight of his targets for 93 yards and a touchdown. Production like this is just more evidence to his potential to make a huge impact on fantasy lineups in the future.
Adonai Mitchell jumped into the national spotlight with a career-high week on campus. He scored 24.2 points by catching 8 of 12 targets for 102 yards and a touchdown in the victory over the Atlanta Falcons. His playmaking ability makes him a spicy prospect in deeper formats. He’s most attractive for wide receiver-needy teams to help improve a woeful WR corps.
Additionally, Jayden Higgins has shown out in recent weeks with double-digit scoring performances in three of his last four contests. He’s found the end zone in two of those appearances, proving his consistency as a scoring augment. Higgins is averaging 7.0 targets per game during this stretch. For fantasy managers looking to make a playoff push, he makes for an excellent addition to your receiving corps.
Quarterback Contributions
Trevor Lawrence has proven doubters wrong week after week as he heads into Week 14. He’s gone 17+ points in consecutive games, tossing at least 2 touchdowns per game in each outing. Lawrence has displayed good mobility, rushing for 24-plus yards in four of his past five outings. On that run, he had a stretch where he averaged five or more carries per game. His ability to pass and rush the ball opens doors that make him an enticing pick for fantasy players. He would be a must-draft for any quarterback-needy squads!
Jacoby Brissett stays on the radar as a deeper league starter’s replacement. He currently is averaging an impressive 43.0 pass attempts per game. This creates a ton of upside for fantasy points, especially in leagues that reward passing yardage to a high degree. Brissett is at his best when tasked with making a large number of throws. He provides strong streaming upside for fantasy managers looking for a spot starter QB.
Second, pass-catching tight end Brenton Strange should be another name echoing through the land this week. Since returning from IR—a hip injury in early October—he’s tallied 13+ points in consecutive games. His first career start, his new matchup against the Colts this week is another encouraging opportunity for Strange to build on that trend. Fantasy managers in search of tight end help would be wise to monitor Strange’s progress as he gets more acclimated and develops positive momentum.
Running Back Considerations
Keep an eye on Devin Neal coming up in Week 14! He’d provide significant talent if Alvin Kamara is unable to go for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This confluence of events is giving Neal an opportunity to step into a bigger spotlight. As a byproduct, he should see fewer touches and have fewer scoring opportunities.
With what he has done the past few weeks, Allgeier feathers deeper league watch lists. Finding the end zone has been as consistent a trait for him as anyone, boosting his fantasy value as we enter these crucial weeks of the fantasy season. Allgeier has found the end zone on the ground in four of his past six contests. He’s poised to continue to do serious work as teams prepare for their postseason pushes themselves.
