The blockbuster WBBL10 fixture between the Sydney Sixers Women and the Brisbane Heat Women played on Friday, November 28th, 2025. Sadly, it was left to fall through the cracks without so much as a single ball being bowled. Scheduled to commence at 10:40 AM at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, the fixture was ultimately rendered unplayable due to inclement weather.
This match was important to both teams, as they were both looking to pick up important points in the closely contested league. Continual rain all day made for unsafe field conditions, creating an inability for either team to take the pitch. Though the teams were ready, it became clear that Mother Nature would have to be the winner, leaving players and fans across the country disappointed.
Needlessly, the match was cancelled before it could even kick-off. Because of this, neither squad was even able to fully display their lineups or game plans. The Sydney Sixers Women and Brisbane Heat Women are a perfect example of this, each with their own competitive vibes and freak show talents. Now, they’ll have to wait until their next matches to display what they’ve learned.
For cricket fans, the Weber Women’s Big Bash League is unmissable entertainment. Right now teams are in a dogfight for playoff position as the season has marched into October. The canceled match was a loss for both teams. It does highlight the fragility and unpredictability of outdoor sports, as Mother Nature all too often can change the forecast without warning.
