The Golden State Warriors suffered another setback in their challenging season as Draymond Green, their star defensive player, exited Saturday night's game against the Washington Wizards due to left calf tightness. The game, which took place at the Chase Center, saw Green leave the court just three minutes into the first quarter, with nine minutes remaining. As the Warriors look ahead to a tough schedule next week, Green's potential extended absence could leave them shorthanded once again.
Green had just returned to the lineup after missing three games because of an illness and a back issue. His premature departure from Saturday's game adds to the growing list of injuries plaguing the Warriors this season. The team has been struggling with various setbacks, including Jonathan Kuminga's ongoing ankle injury since January 4 and Brandin Podziemski's abdominal injury. These absences have significantly impacted the Warriors, who have lost 17 of their last 25 games.
The Warriors opened the season with a promising 12-3 start but have since hit a slump. The absence of key players like Green has affected their performance on the court. Green, who plays as a power forward for the Warriors, has been averaging 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. His defensive prowess is crucial to the team's success, and his unavailability poses a significant challenge as they prepare to face the Boston Celtics on Monday afternoon in the first of four games next week.
