Though they would find a way to win that contest over the Timberwolves, Curry’s unexpected exit against Minnesota could have serious implications going forward. Kerr must find a way to maximize his team’s shooting-driven success, even in Curry’s absence. Curry’s speed and mobility would come into question if the Warriors push him back too soon, which might be a liability. That’s because it would increase the likelihood of reinjury.
Jonathan Kuminga stepped up during Game 1, contributing five points in 13 minutes, while Pat Spencer emerged as an unlikely source of energy with four points and two steals. These contributions, though welcome, further underscore the dearth of firepower the Warriors have to endure in the absence of their best player.
