Vivianne Miedema, the star forward for Manchester City Women, may miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season due to a hamstring injury sustained during a recent international match. The injury occurred late in the second half of the Netherlands’ 3-1 win over Austria on Tuesday. It hit just 15 minutes after Miedema entered as a sub.
This most recent injury serves as a considerable blow, not only to Miedema herself, but to her club as well. His play this season has put him on the map. Add all those numbers up and the striker has booked her move from Arsenal to Manchester City last summer, with nine goals and two assists in 14 appearances since. She’s already been through the worst of it, having missed 11 months before due to an ACL tear. Once she returned to the pitch in November 2024, Miedema wasted little time demonstrating her value toward securing the team’s breakthrough success. Miedema’s injury is especially worrisome as the forward has missed the last four friendly outings. This injury could not have come at a worse time. Without Miedema, the odds against Manchester City Women having a successful FA Cup campaign look pretty bleak. Worst of all, it might affect their performance in domestic competitions.
