Victor Perez, a French professional golfer, just caused quite the stir. Now, surprisingly, he is leaving the PGA Tour to join the Cleeks team in the LIV Golf league. This decision represents a dramatic turnaround in Perez’s career. He’s now the first player this year to jump from the PGA Tour to the Saudi-funded LIV Golf series.
Sitting 108th on the FedEx Cup standings, Perez has gone through a tough season. He was only a participant in one tournament outside the designated PGA Tour schedule. At the French Open, he wanted to come out and just flip everything upside down. His top finish this season was a ninth-place tie at the RBC Canadian Open. By backing out of the RSM Classic on Tuesday, Perez already took a big step. He took the plunge and left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, looking for less rigorous opportunities.
Perez has joint membership with both PGA Tour and European Tour. On the European circuit, he has enjoyed a prolific career racking up three titles. Frederik Kjettrup was unable to place inside of the top 48 on the points list and will be leaving the Cleeks roster. In the meantime, he’s joined the exodus to LIV Golf. As Perez steps in to fill Kjettrup’s position, he brings a high level of competitive spirit and experience that will further bolster the team.
