Veteran offensive lineman Joe Noteboom, 29, has agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens. Inconsistent availability overall production in his last two years with the Los Angeles Rams was marred by major injuries that kept him off the field. Noteboom’s switch on the development front follows his appearance in 14 games, 8 of them starts during the immediately prior 2022 NFL season.
In the Rams’ 2024 season opener against the Texans, Noteboom broke his ankle. In response, the team surprisingly and hastily moved him to injured reserve. This most recent injury marks the 29-year-old’s fifth consecutive year of consistent injury woes. He had previously endured a torn Achilles tendon in the 2022 season. Regardless of these stigmas, Noteboom showed a ton of resolve by starting four games after returning from injured reserve in November. He was a healthy inactive for each of the Rams’ two playoff victories.
Noteboom’s career kicked off when the Rams selected him with the third pick in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the most impactful player in franchise history through his first seven seasons with the team. Most notably, he was responsible for building the roster that won Super Bowl LVI. Then in March of 2022, he was rewarded with a profitable three-year, $40 million deal, which sent a brazen message about the team’s belief in him. His tenure with the Rams was plagued by injuries. He wasn’t able to keep the grip of a regular starting spot, only starting 6 games in the 2022 season.
With his signing to the Ravens, Noteboom hopes to turn his career around. Under new offensive coordinator Todd Munkin, the Ravens seem committed to improving their offensive line as they look to take a big step forward in 2024. By adding Noteboom to the fold, they’ll look to his experience and talent to help take their play to new heights.
