Tyrese Haliburton, the Indiana Pacers star and NBA’s most recent all-star, recently proposed to his long-time girlfriend Jade Jones. The emotional ceremony was held at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa. The pair started dating in 2019. Celebrating their engagement with a happy joint post on Instagram, the pair gave all their social media followers the good news.
Haliburton’s his Achilles during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. Injury or not, he persevered with the help of a scooter and cast to deliver his on-time proposal. This creative approach showcased his determination to not let the injury hinder one of the most significant moments of his life. In a recent Players Tribune essay, Haliburton revealed that basketball legend Kobe Bryant helped him get through recovery. He shared this emotion as a guest on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Both Haliburton and Jones have deep ties to Iowa State University, where the pair first crossed paths as students on campus. The 6-4 guard played for the Iowa State Cyclones for two seasons before declaring for the NBA Draft. The Sacramento Kings took him with the twelfth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Jones remained involved on campus as a member of the Iowa State cheerleading team.
The reason the couple selected Hilton Coliseum for their proposal is because it means a lot to them as a couple. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s the home arena for Iowa State’s basketball program and packed with warm memories of their college experience. Haliburton’s emotional tribute proved to be cathartic for fans and friends alike. It was a celebration of his love for Jones and homage to their deeply intertwined backgrounds.
Haliburton’s third season in the league was filled with great victory — and pain. By June of 2025, he was close to winning his first NBA championship ring. With this close call, it is all the more interesting to see how his journey as an athlete unfolds. Despite the setback, his resilience shines through.
