Trevon Diggs Undergoes Knee Surgery, Faces Extended Recovery

Trevon Diggs
, the renowned Dallas Cowboys cornerback, recently underwent surgery on his left knee. The procedure, a chondral tissue graft, aimed to enhance joint function by transplanting pieces of bone and cartilage into the affected area. While the surgery was successful, the recovery period could extend into parts of the upcoming training camp, potentially impacting his preseason preparations.

Diggs's surgical procedure mirrors that of former Cowboys wide receiver Noah Brown, who successfully continued his career post-operation. Despite the challenges, Diggs remains optimistic about his recovery trajectory. The procedure was necessitated after he missed two games due to a knee issue. However, Diggs demonstrated remarkable resilience by playing against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 9, despite his knee condition.

Financially, the injury triggered a significant development in Diggs's contract. His $9 million base salary for 2025 is now fully guaranteed following the injury. This provides a measure of financial security as he navigates his path to recovery. It's important to note that this recent surgery is unrelated to the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered during practice in 2023.

Diggs has been a standout performer for the Cowboys, earning Pro Bowl selections in both 2021 and 2022. His defensive prowess was evident with an impressive 14 interceptions over those two years. In the 2023 season, he recorded 44 tackles and added two more interceptions to his record. As he enters the third year of a lucrative five-year, $97 million contract, Diggs remains a pivotal figure in the Cowboys' defense.
