Trent Rockets secure their place at The Hundred final! Sadly, the rain meant that they had to retire from their Eliminator fixture against Northern Superchargers. It was an incredible game that played out at The Kia Oval. Unfortunately, non weather forced play ended the contest and didn’t allow the teams to complete the 75 minute battle.
The fixture started with Northern Superchargers batting first. They had posted 119 runs in 75 balls, losing five wickets. Superchargers’ David Lawrence was the top man with the bat end, on 44 not out. The Rockets began their innings with a bang, reaching 12 for none through five balls. Tragically, rain stopped their chase and ended their hopes of making it to that target.
The match was officially abandoned at 21:52 BST, which allowed Trent Rockets to progress to the final based on their higher position in the group standings. The Sultans narrowly clinched second overall, one spot up from Northern Superchargers who saw their tournament come to an end with a third place finish.
This means Trent Rockets will meet the Oval Invincibles in the men’s final at Lord’s. The Invincibles are going for their third-straight title, as if that need an more layer of excitement to the impending matchup. The Rockets will be looking to ruin that momentum and claim their first championship in this format.
