Tragic Collision Claims Lives of Three Friends, Inflicts Devastating Loss

In the early hours of July 6, 2024, a tragic three-car collision claimed the lives of Khyree Jackson, Isaiah Hazel, and Anthony Lytton Jr. The accident occurred at 3:14 a.m. when Cori Clingman, 23, attempted to change lanes at high speed. Her vehicle struck a Dodge Charger driven by Hazel, with Jackson in the passenger seat, resulting in a catastrophic loss for the families and communities involved. Clingman now faces 13 charges, including DUI and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter.

Cori Clingman, who attended high school with the deceased victims, was arrested after the incident. Authorities reported that her blood alcohol content was above the legal limit of 0.08% in Maryland. In addition to the Dodge Charger, Clingman’s vehicle also collided with a Chevrolet Impala, although the driver and passengers emerged unscathed.

Khyree Jackson was a promising talent, having been selected as the Minnesota Vikings' fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was just one month shy of celebrating his 25th birthday. In response to the tragedy, the Vikings have shown their support by donating $20,000 towards Jackson's funeral expenses and honoring his legacy with a payout of his $827,148 signing bonus to his estate.

Isaiah Hazel, aged 23, showcased his football prowess at the University of Maryland and Charlotte. Meanwhile, Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, played for Florida State and Penn State. The three men shared a long-standing friendship that began in their youth. Their untimely deaths have left an indelible mark on their communities.

In a heartfelt statement, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell shared the communal grief experienced by the team and families.

"We're all grieving and we all grieve in our own ways." – O'Connell

He emphasized the importance of unity during such difficult times.

"But there's nothing more powerful than grieving together, and we're going to do it in the way that best honors Khyree and his family." – O'Connell

Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy expressed her sorrow and determination to pursue justice for the victims.
