Tracy Morgan, a 56-year-old comedian and longtime New York Knicks fan, found himself in the spotlight for an unexpected reason during a Knicks game against the Miami Heat. The event unfolded at Madison Square Garden when Morgan, who had been prominently featured during the "Saturday Night Live" 50th anniversary weekend events, experienced a bout of food poisoning. This incident occurred during the second half of the game, interrupting the action with 6:09 left in the third quarter.
Morgan had attended both the "SNL50: The Homecoming Concert" and the live "SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration" special before the game. However, his night took an unforeseen turn when he began vomiting, leading to a temporary halt in the game as workers cleaned up the area near his seat for over ten minutes.
Following this unexpected incident, Morgan took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to reassure his fans. He posted a photo from a hospital bed, smiling despite his ordeal, and expressed gratitude for the concern shown by his followers.
"I'm doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning. Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!" – Tracy Morgan
Morgan's humorous spirit remained intact as he joked about the incident's impact on his beloved Knicks.
"More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I'll have to break it out again in the playoffs." – Tracy Morgan
Despite this health scare, Morgan is no stranger to overcoming medical challenges. He has previously faced significant health issues, including a kidney transplant in 2010 and a traumatic brain injury from a 2014 accident.
The comedian is currently working on an upcoming untitled comedy pilot for NBC, where he plays a disgraced former football player. This latest incident is unlikely to keep him down for long as he continues to pursue his passion for comedy and entertainment.
