Both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors recently adjusted their schedules to help football fans. They’ve achieved this by avoiding any conflict with the Toronto Blue Jays’ World Series games. This collaborative effort reflects a commitment from all three teams to support the Blue Jays as they compete for baseball’s ultimate prize.
The changes arrive as the Blue Jays head to the World Series, a long-awaited return to glory for Toronto fans. The Maple Leafs and Raptors, both owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, will postpone their scheduled games this weekend and early next week. This new provision further opens the door for fans to participate in the fun and celebration that is always provoked by the World Series.
This decision to change game times is intended to create a smooth experience for potential sports fans in Toronto. Keith Pelley, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, noted that this teamwork was important.
“Toronto sports fans are undeniably some of the most passionate fans in the world, and we are proud to have the city’s teams come together and give these fans an opportunity to experience a significant moment in our city’s and nation’s history.” – Keith Pelley, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment
The Maple Leafs and Raptors games will be moved. That way, they won’t overlap with the World Series games which begin at 8 p.m. ET. He raised the very real challenge of keeping all these changes straight and needing to coordinate between local officials and private sector stakeholders.
“Each of these game time changes are quite complicated and represent the co-operation of many stakeholders, including the respective leagues, coaches and players of the Leafs, Raptors and opposing teams and broadcasters.” – Keith Pelley, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment
This collaborative effort further highlights the unique solidarity shared among Toronto’s professional sports franchises. Working in concert, they hope to establish a collaborative, welcoming environment for consumers as the industry moves through this significant transition. And Toronto is getting ready for a long World Series run! At the same time, the Maple Leafs and RP Raptors are taking a break to let the focus be on the Blue Jays.
