The Tennessee Titans have embarked on an extensive search to fill the general manager position following the dismissal of Ran Carthon. The team is actively pursuing a suitable replacement after Carthon's tenure ended on Tuesday, culminating in a 9-25 record over two seasons. The Titans wrapped up their second day of interviews on Saturday night, with a notable session featuring Catherine Hickman, the NFL's highest-ranking female executive.
Hickman, currently serving as the assistant general manager and vice president of football operations for the Cleveland Browns, brings an impressive track record. She joined the Browns in 2022, having initially been hired in 2019 as the football operations coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. Her diverse experience extends to the Canadian Football League, where she contributed to teams in Montreal and Toronto.
In addition to Hickman, the Titans conducted virtual interviews with several other candidates. Ed Dodds, the assistant general manager for the Indianapolis Colts, was among those interviewed. Dodds has dedicated eight seasons to Indianapolis, spending the past seven years in his current role. His extensive experience in player evaluation and team management could be a valuable asset for the Titans.
Matt Berry, Seattle Seahawks' senior director of player personnel, also participated in the interview process. Berry's tenure with Seattle spans 17 seasons, beginning as a regional scout and progressing to a national scout before being named director of college scouting in 2015. This year, he assumed his current role, bringing a wealth of scouting and player development expertise to the table.
The Titans also engaged with Terrance Gray, director of player personnel for the Buffalo Bills. With eight seasons under his belt in Buffalo and three years in his current position, Gray has demonstrated proficiency in team-building and strategic planning.
Furthermore, the team interviewed two former general managers, Reggie McKenzie and Thomas Dimitroff. These candidates bring substantial leadership experience and a deep understanding of NFL operations to the Titans' search.
Overseeing this comprehensive search process is Chad Brinker, the Titans' president of football operations. Under Brinker's guidance, the organization aims to identify a candidate who can steer the franchise towards success.
