>The Tennessee Titans have officially begun their draft prep in earnest. They’ve sent a delegation out to Colorado to scout and rank the top QB prospects. The team, which finished last season with a disappointing 3-14 record, is considering multiple avenues to address its pressing need for a franchise quarterback. You’ve got some really fantastic choices before you. You can select one for yourself among the best available, or trade down to get more assets while still ensuring you grab a wanted player.
In Colorado, Titans representatives, including Chad Brinker, Mike Borgonzi, Reggie McKenzie, Dennard Wilson, Tyke Tolbert, Nick Holz, and Bo Hardigree, observed Shedeur Sanders executing a scripted workout designed by his father, Deion Sanders. The performance undoubtedly made a strong impression on the Titans’ staff.
Amy Adams-Strunk, the upsettingly awesome controlling owner of the Titans, was at Cam Ward’s pro day in Miami. The Titans are very interested in both Ward and Sanders. These four incumbents are viewed as the elite prospects in this year’s draft class.
Sustainably, the Titans have established a challenging standard. Like always, they will only consider moving down from the No. 1 overall pick for a major offer. This position indicates an openness to dedicating high picks to get one of the best talents out there. Realistically, General Manager Ran Carthon will have admitted that potential franchise quarterbacks such as Ward and Sanders are of extreme value.
“You weigh whatever it is that’s being presented. If it’s something that you feel like is beyond the value you would have ever thought you could get, that’s one thing,” – Callahan
Make no mistake, Carthon put a premium on doing the most deepest evaluation of quarterback prospects.
“But then you also have to look at what a potential franchise quarterback looks like and if you think they’re that good and they’re that type of player, those guys to me are priceless.” – Callahan
During their time in Miami, the Titans were particularly impressed with how smoothly Ward adapted to adjustments made to his mechanics, including his footwork. The workout cemented his development into a leader on the field.
Make no mistake, though, Deion Sanders has immense confidence in both Shadour Sanders and Ward. He thinks they’re both worthy enough to be picked at the top of the draft.
“They should be going 1-2 [in the draft], that’s the way I feel about it,” – Deion Sanders
He elaborated on the two by calling them “the safest picks in this draft,” which only confirmed their move to top-tier talents.
“They are the two best players in this draft…. The surest bets in this draft are those two young men.” – Deion Sanders
Despite a prevailing sentiment that the Titans might choose Cam Ward with their first pick, they remain open to discussions about trading it. I believe the front office is considering every possible option very seriously and is in no hurry to make any move.
The Titans had originally scheduled a private workout with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. After a post-workout gathering they all unanimously decided to scrap it. This Tuohys’ decision shows a smart signaling tactic as they keep weighing their options.
The Titans are eyeing the junior Ward and senior Sanders. They intend to do the same with other potential quarterback prospects to get further information on their skillset and how they might fit into the team’s system.
As they prepare for the draft, the Titans are mindful of their critical need for improvement after last season’s struggles. The franchise has shown that they aren’t going to feel pressure to make an impulsive decision regarding their next franchise quarterback.
