Tiger Woods Undergoes Achilles Surgery Following Training Injury

Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer and 15-time major champion, recently underwent surgery on his left Achilles tendon. The minimally invasive procedure was conducted by Dr. Charlton Stucken at the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida. This injury occurred while Woods, 49, was intensifying his training and practice sessions at his home.

Woods had not participated in any PGA Tour events this season before the surgery. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines outside San Diego, a decision influenced by the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, on February 4. Originally entered in the event, Woods chose to step back from competition to be with his family during this difficult time.

Following the surgery, Woods returned to his home in Jupiter, Florida. He has expressed his intention to focus entirely on recovery and rehabilitation. This recent operation is part of Woods' ongoing journey to manage his health. In September 2024, he underwent microdecompression surgery of the lumbar spine due to nerve impingement in the lower back.

Woods last appeared in a tour event at The Open, held at the Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland, where he did not make the cut. Despite these setbacks, Woods remains a formidable figure in golf, with a career that boasts 15 major championships.
