Tiger Woods Returns to TGL and Aims for Golf’s Reunification

Tiger Woods is set to return to TGL play this Tuesday, marking a significant moment for the golf legend and his team, Jupiter Links. They will compete against the New York Golf Club in what promises to be a thrilling match. Woods' return comes after a period of absence due to personal tragedy, with the recent passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, who died at the age of 80 on February 4. Her death led Woods to miss the Genesis Invitational, an event that has since relocated to Torrey Pines from Riviera Country Club.

The missed Genesis Invitational was not the only absence for Woods this season. However, he has participated in two TGL matches this year, where he appeared healthy and ready to compete. Expressing his optimism for the future, Woods stated that he hopes to play more frequently this season and participate in some of the bigger events.

"I haven't been able to do that. I'll get back after it and look to play some of the bigger events." – Tiger Woods

In parallel to his return to the game, Woods is involved in discussions regarding a proposed deal between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The deal aims to reunify the game, which has seen division in recent years. Woods was scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump last Tuesday to discuss this proposal. Due to his personal circumstances, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and golfer Adam Scott participated in the meeting on his behalf. They are expected to have another meeting with the President soon.

Woods remains hopeful about the progress of these discussions, expressing confidence in their potential to heal divisions within the sport.

"I think things are going to heal quickly. We're going to get this game going in the right direction. It's been heading in the wrong direction for a number of years and the fans want all of us to play together — all the top players playing together — and we're going to make that happen." – Tiger Woods

As talks with the Public Investment Fund continue, Rory McIlroy reiterated that reunification remains the ultimate goal. This sentiment aligns with Woods’ vision for the future of golf, aiming for a united platform where top players compete together.

Woods also took a moment to reflect on the personal loss of his mother, acknowledging her as a significant source of strength throughout his life.

"Losing her has been a hard and difficult process to go through. Mom was my rock." – Tiger Woods
