Thunder Achieves Historic 60th Win Mark with Commanding Victory Over Kings

The Oklahoma City Thunder won NBA history on Friday night, becoming the first team this season to secure their 60th win. They locked this milestone in with a convincing 121-105 victory over the Sacramento Kings. That’s exactly what happened last night during the game played in Toronto, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander set the tone with a dazzling 32-point performance. This amazing accomplishment equals the Thunder’s present season to the 2012-13 squad. Both teams are now tied with the most wins since the franchise moved from Seattle after the 2007-08 season.

Only one other team—the Milwaukee Bucks—have made it this far with pace this quick at 60 wins, doing so in franchise history. The team seized the momentum right away. By the time halftime arrived, they’d sprinted out to a stunning 24-point lead, quickly establishing their record-setting dominance on the floor. Chet Holmgren contributed significantly with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Alex Caruso added 15 points to secure the win.

With the win the Thunder improved to 14 wins in their last 15 contests. This win solidifies their standing as the dark horse favorite of the season. That’s right, the team recently matched their record of 11 straight road wins! This win now has them tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the longest road winning streak all year long. Overall, their 60 wins match them for the fourth-most double-digit wins in a single season in NBA history.

Reaching this milestone is an incredible feat, and it speaks not just to the Thunder’s talent, but to their hard work and commitment to teamwork.

"We play every night to get better, to become a better group ourselves," said Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, reflecting on the team's focus and determination.

The Thunder are off to a terrific start this season! They are now only four victories shy of the club record of 64, achieved during the 1995-96 season. A few more contests at home and away remain. This Thunder squad could make some serious history in the storied history of this club!
