Tomorrow's Golf League (TGL) is set to redefine the landscape of professional golf with its tech-infused, team-based format. Established in August 2022, TGL has partnered with the PGA Tour to deliver a unique 3-on-3 golf experience. The league, featuring six teams comprising four PGA Tour golfers each, will tee off its inaugural season on January 7. Matches will take place at the custom-built SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, offering a cutting-edge course covering 97 yards by 50 yards.
The league's innovative concept involves six teams based in major cities across the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Jupiter, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Each team consists of a lineup of renowned golfers. Atlanta Drive GC features Patrick Cantlay, Lucas Glover, Billy Horschel, and Justin Thomas. Boston Common Golf boasts Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy, and Adam Scott. Jupiter Links Golf Club brings Max Homa, Tom Kim, Kevin Kisner, and Tiger Woods to the forefront. Los Angeles Golf Club enlists Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, and Sahith Theegala. New York Golf Club showcases Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, and Cameron Young. Lastly, The Bay Golf Club's roster includes Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Shane Lowry, and Min Woo Lee.
TGL's matches adopt a points-based system for regular-season play. Each match consists of two sessions: a first session utilizing a 3-on-3 alternate-shot format known as triples and a second session featuring a 1-on-1 head-to-head format called singles. Each hole within the match is worth one point. A regulation win garners two points for the victorious team. In cases of overtime, a win also yields two points, while a loss results in one point.
As the season progresses, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. This phase includes a single-elimination semifinal round leading to an intense best-of-three championship series. The championship series will pit the top two teams against each other across two nights in a thrilling best-of-three match format.
The league's matches promise accessibility for fans through broadcasts on ESPN and ESPN2 as well as streaming on ESPN+. This ensures that golf enthusiasts can follow their favorite teams and players throughout the season.
