Jimmie Ward, a safety for the Houston Texans, was arrested early Thursday morning at 5:38 a.m. in Montgomery County, Texas. He is in jail right now with a felony assault charge stemming from an alleged family violence incident in Magnolia. Ward remains in custody at the Montgomery County Jail. He might be the hardest person in the world to contact, as he hasn’t been specifically named on the facility’s website.
The arrest was made shortly after complaintant called police to report the incident, the identity of the complainant has not been released. Press reports say that complainant Ward — who has reportedly been characterized as a friend by the democrat — beat her, strangled, and threatened her. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene after the complaint was filed.
New information about Ward’s bail has come to light, suggesting that it has already been set. Yet, he is still in custody and has not yet been released. This moment is a major step forward in Ward’s professional career, particularly after recently signing on the practice squad with the Texans.
Then-33-year-old Ward signed with Houston as a free agent. Prior to that, he spent his first nine seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He ultimately signed a two-year, $13 million contract with Houston and was given a one-year extension in August 2024. Through four games this season, he has played in a career-high 10 games and emerged with an interception. His current cap hit stands at $5,669,118.
Ward’s position as an NFL player has brought a tremendous amount of positive attention to the situation. The gravity of the serious allegations against him heightens that scrutiny.
