Tensions Remain High as Cowboys and Eagles Prepare for Rematch

Dak Prescott finds himself at the center of attention ahead of the rematch between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, following a controversial incident involving Eagles rookie Jalen Carter. In their Week 1 matchup, Carter was tossed from the stadium before kickoff. He apparently spat on Prescott, triggering the most shocking call of all. As the teams prepare to face off again, both players are keeping their comments to a minimum regarding the altercation.

The ejection and one-game suspension of Carter has certainly created a heated debate among NFL fans and analysts. Carter missed the entirety of the recent past contest. So it’s worth emphasizing the context that this suspension was served in. Prescott knows what’s at stake. McCarthy has been very clear that his reaction to Carter will depend on what the rookie says in the first place.

“Depends on what he says first. But probably something friendly. Get on his good side.” – Dak Prescott

Tyler Smith, a teammate of Prescott’s, weighed in on the incident, stating that Prescott was not actually spit on during the encounter. Yet, notably, he confessed that he wasn’t there for the incident in question.

Todd Archer has covered the NFL since 1997. Having covered the Cowboys every year since 2003, he explained that this kind of drama usually produces an added layer of intrigue in the game’s lead-up. Archer, who has been with ESPN since 2010, offers a window into the changing landscape of these significant rivalries.

Rookie centerpiece Jalen Carter looked unbothered when asked about the altercation. He was again adamant that he’s not paying attention to previous matchups with them, but instead concentrating on the upcoming game.

“We’re not worried about that. We’re here where we are right now.” – Jalen Carter

In their previous meeting, the Eagles managed to secure a narrow victory, winning 24-20 despite Carter’s absence due to his ejection. Unlike the last meeting, Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer mentioned the fact that both teams have changed since their first meeting.

“He’s a really good player and he’s packaged in there with some really good players… I think they’re best in the league. It’s going to be really tough, but we love that challenge and we think we’re pretty good, too.” – Brian Schottenheimer

Klayton Adams, a member of the coaching staff, emphasized that Jalen Carter’s ejection did not significantly impact their game plan during the first matchup. He stated, “We had the openers planned the way that we wanted to run them, and we called the same stuff that we were going to call.”
