Tee Higgins Prioritizes Health Ahead of Upcoming Season

Tee Higgins, the outspoken wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, is all in on health. Now he’s preparing for the league’s first Covid-19 season with that same aim. After seeing a long run of injuries keep him out of play last year, Higgins’ priority now, rightfully, is to remain healthy. He’s taking every precaution with his top trainer David Alexander, planning a Miami reopening. He would like to be a bigger part of the success of his team and is looking ahead positively towards his next few games.

Higgins is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in journalism. Since then he’s been nothing short of a standout player for the Bengals. Last year, he had 73 receptions for 911 yards and a career-best 10 touchdowns in just 12 games played. He sat out the first two games due to a hamstring injury. Then, he missed the next three games with a quadriceps injury. In 2023, another hamstring issue sidelined him for a further four contests.

I plan on staying healthy. Let’s not say ‘if.’ Let’s not do that. It’s too early to be doing that. I do,” Higgins said, stressing the importance of staying fit and healthy to avoid injury. The pass catcher is adjusting his early-work game day habits. Now he’s paying more attention to stretching and reducing muscle tension.

Although he’s still facing injuries, Higgins has become an indispensable piece of the puzzle for the Bengals. When he was gone last season, the team struggled heavily on the offensive end. They instead ranked 21st in the NFL for Expected Points Added per play. His presence on the field significantly impacts the team’s performance. With him active, Cincinnati would have ranked at least fourth in a specific league category.

To date, Higgins has been intentional about exploring how to understand the causes of his repeated injuries. He observes that he personally has been involved in research projects like those of Green Bay Packers wideout Christian Watson. This proactive approach speaks to his desire and commitment to be at his best to help the Bengals on their pursuit to winning it all.

I reviewed it to my coach and we’ve been taking measures to keep those injuries from occurring. Higgins went on to explain, underscoring the significance of his partnership with Alexander in tackling concerns about injury.
