Takeda Leads the Pack at Blue Bay with Stellar Performance

Rio Takeda of Japan seized a commanding lead at the LPGA's Blue Bay tournament with a 3-under 69 on Saturday. The young golfer, aged 21, propelled herself to a two-shot lead after three rounds on China's southern island of Hainan. Takeda, aiming for her second LPGA tournament victory, was previously trailing three shots behind in a competitive group of four players before shooting an impressive 68.

Takeda holds a two-shot advantage over Gigi Stoll, Auston Kim, and Cassie Porter. Stoll matched Takeda’s performance with a 68, while Kim finished with a solid 70. Porter closed her round with an even-par 72. Takeda, currently on 9-under 207, is eyeing another triumph following her victory in the Toto Japan Classic four months ago, which she clinched in a thrilling six-hole sudden-death playoff.

Local favorite Ruoning Yin, ranked fourth in the LPGA, shot a 71 but found herself 10 shots behind the leader. Despite the setback, Yin remains a formidable competitor in the tour. The tournament also features Jeeno Thitikul, the second-ranked player in the LPGA, adding to the tournament's competitive edge.

Takeda's focus and skill have kept her at the forefront as she heads into Sunday's final round. The Blue Bay tournament, known for its challenging course, has witnessed Takeda's strategic play and determination. Her current lead sets her up as a strong contender for yet another championship title.
