Phoenix Suns guard, Josh Green, faced a concerning setback during last night’s game after aggravating a pre-existing right hamstring injury. With a little over 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter, he took an aggressive drive to the basket. Unfortunately, that’s when the tragic incident happened. This unlucky setback compounds Green’s already lengthy war with his hamstring. He’s the new self-inflicted problem he’s dealt with since the beginning of this season.
Before leaving the game, Green had thrown in two points and played seven minutes, so he was still actively participating. Though his production on the field didn’t match expectations after he underwent this same injury early in training camp. First he had a setback in training when he overexerted and strained himself. This injury required him to adjust his training program not long before the start of the season.
Green’s health started to fail him last preseason as the Suns embarked on a trip to China for a pair of exhibition games. While overseas, he aggravated the same right hamstring, sidelining him for an extended period and raising concerns about his availability moving forward.
Now, the Suns are stuck judging how bad Green clearly is and figuring out what moves it needs to make to get him to some place of health. The team still hasn’t announced how long he’ll be out for. They’re going to do the most thorough diligence possible, especially in the initial stages of his rehab process.
