Stephen Curry Makes History with 4,000th Career 3-Pointer

Stephen Curry made history by becoming the first player to achieve 4,000 career 3-pointers during the Golden State Warriors' decisive 130-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Entering the game, Curry needed just two 3-pointers to reach this remarkable milestone. The historic moment came with 8:19 left in the third quarter when Curry sank a 3-pointer from the right wing, off a pass from Moses Moody, marking his 4,000th career three.

Curry's achievement is a testament to his prowess on the court. He made his landmark shot on his fourth attempt of the night, solidifying his place in NBA history. In addition to reaching this milestone, Curry holds the record for the two longest streaks of consecutive regular-season games with at least one made 3-pointer, with his longest streak being 268 games. He also boasts another impressive streak of 157 consecutive games.

The Warriors' coach, Steve Kerr, expressed his admiration for Curry's achievement.

"It's the fluidity and the grace. Yes, it's the audacity [to take some of the Curry 3s], but it's also the emotion and the beauty of it all. It's mesmerizing. You see his movement on the floor. He's like a ballerina out there. You're not just watching sports; you're watching art." – Steve Kerr

Curry's journey to this historic figure began with his first 3-pointer and has seen him surpass Ray Allen's previous record of 2,973 career 3-pointers on December 14, 2021, at Madison Square Garden. Now in his 16th season and having turned 37 on March 14, Curry continues to redefine excellence in basketball.

Reflecting on his latest accomplishment, Curry shared his astonishment at how far he has come.

"It's beyond my wildest dreams to push a record that far." – Stephen Curry

However, when asked about his future prospects beyond this milestone, Curry remained uncertain.

"I don't know how many more I got after that," – Stephen Curry

Despite a quieter night in terms of scoring, finishing with 11 points and five assists along with his two successful 3-pointers, Curry remains a dominant force on the court. Currently, James Harden trails behind him in the rankings with 3,120 career 3-pointers.
