Stefon Diggs Faces Assault Charges Following Incident with Private Chef

Stefon Diggs, one of the New England Patriots’ prized offseason acquisitions, is today under a much darker cloud. These stem from an event relating to a woman who previously worked for him as his private chef. Things got out of hand when discussions about the money she was owed started. This increased strain culminated in a specific confrontation, which ultimately led to those charges of assault and strangulation.

Restraining orders are not always effective. The alleged incident took place before December 16 when Diggs allegedly let himself into the woman’s unlocked bedroom. After leaving the discussion about their monetary disagreement, Diggs allegedly slapped the woman in the face. Initially, the woman was reluctant to pursue any legal recourse. After weighing her options, she approached police on December 16 and decided to press charges six days later on December 22.

Tuesday morning’s motion hearing took place at the Dedham District Court in Massachusetts. At the hearing’s outset, Diggs’ defense team told the judge they were currently in discussions about pursuing a monetary settlement. That indicates a good faith attempt on their part to handle these serious allegations outside of court.

In reply to the counterclaims, Diggs specifically denies each and every one of the alleged claims made against him. Without explicit support from his legal team, he would not have been able to irreparably harm himself through this process.
