Southampton have rejected Everton’s £27 million bid for midfielder Tyler Dibling. The announcement follows a difficult week for Everton, who suffered back-to-back losses in their pre-season friendlies most recently. Following a 2-1 loss to West Ham on Wednesday evening, the team is in search of reinforcements ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Everton is in immediate need of reinforcements, having lost several key players. This effort comes in the wake of their 3-0 loss to Bournemouth last weekend. Perhaps that isn’t too surprising given how the club has faltered over their last few games. They’d been dealt further blows during their troubled pre-season preparations, losing to Blackburn and drawing with Accrington Stanley before flying to the United States.
Dibling’s Growing Profile
Tyler Dibling is under contract at St. Mary’s for two more years. He’s caught the attention of many of Europe’s top clubs. Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, and RB Leipzig have inquired about the talented young midfielder. Southampton’s swift rebuffing of Everton’s first approach hints at just how highly they think of Dibling. A bid closer to £40 million would be much more acceptable to them.

Everton’s Pre-Season Struggles

Moyes continued to point out the difficulties the squad has endured, claiming they simply do not have the players available that he needs. He accepted the challenge of pre-season games and the lack of preparation coming into this new season.

With two losses already in their pre-season fixtures, Everton must regroup and focus on improving their game ahead of their Premier League opener.
Sky Sports Coverage Expansion
In other soccer-related news, starting next season, Sky Sports will significantly increase its Premier League coverage. Besides that, the network is increasing its live matches from 128 to at least 215. Next season, Sky Sports will show 80 percent of all televised Premier League matches exclusively. This expansion is indicative of the increasing demand for Premier League football and the desire of audiences to see live sports broadcast.
As clubs like Everton look to strengthen their rosters amid pre-season struggles, the shift in television coverage could influence fans’ engagement and anticipation for the new season ahead.
