Sky Sports has announced a colorful new step toward broadening its Premier League live show rights. This collective agreement will begin with the 2025-26 season. The cable sports network will more than double its Championship coverage from 128 to a minimum of 215 exclusive live matches. This latest boost will mean at least 80 percent of all live Premier League matches next season will be on Sky Sports. This confirms Sky Sports’ position as the top league’s top rightsholder.
This dramatic pivot is intended to increase viewer loyalty. It has the added benefit of opening up the world’s most popular sport to even more fans through expanded access to live football. Fans will be able to stream the extensive new coverage on NOW without a long-term obligation. Further, this amendment provides for more flexibility for MLB fans through how they consume the games.
Liverpool’s Transfer Interests Heat Up
As the broadcasting cash floods into English football, Liverpool FC are said to be drawing up plans to pump more into its squad. According to recent exclusives from Sky Sports News, Liverpool reportedly have a long-term interest in Crystal Palace’s defender Marc Guehi. He now plays with Crystal Palace. The club is known to be keen on Guehi’s signature, though agreeing a fee with Palace could be tough.
Guehi’s move in principle is subject to a medical, as we reported in Sky in Germany. Should the transfer be approved Guehi will pen a five year deal with Liverpool. His base salary will be at least £195,000 a week, potentially climbing to £245,000 a week with bonuses. This shows the club’s growing ambition to attract regular first team starters as the club aim to maintain their place at the top table.
