Cleveland was excited to welcome Shedeur Sanders when he touched down on Tuesday. Our rookie signal caller is all set to jumpstart his NFL career! The Browns selected Sanders with the 144th pick in the 2025 NFL draft, marking a significant moment for both the player and the team. Sanders, meanwhile, is listed at 6-foot-2. He’s one of the most productive players in recent college football history, tossing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in the 2024 season at Colorado.
As Sanders looks ahead to rookie camp, he’s going all-in on the training aspect. He’s already incorporated hill drills into his overall preparation. He’ll walk into an incredibly competitive QB room in Cleveland. This rapidly changing crew includes veterans Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and a rising star under center with Dillon Gabriel.
“I just wanted to come out and see y’all. We are working out every day. We got a purpose. We got something we’re trying to accomplish and achieve, but I’m trying to bring Cleveland of course a Super Bowl,” – Shedeur Sanders.
The students were excited to interact with their new quarterback, peppering him with questions about his path and what drives him. And one student asked an important question at the end, “What keeps you motivated to continue?” Sanders acknowledged the weight of his responsibilities, stating:
“Knowing I got a lot of people watching me, knowing that I’m a positive influence to the youth.”
It was Sanders’ visit — an unexpected one at that — that had the most meaningful impact on students. They appreciated the opportunity to talk directly with him, one of football’s emerging stars and a potent local community inspiration. To his credit, his newfound loyalty to Cleveland really comes through. He especially loves being a good example as a veteran on the team.
And it seems like the hype around him is corroborated. Last month, Peter Schrager’s NFL Network mock draft had Sanders going in the first round. Rather, he fell to the fourth round. Nevertheless, he does stop thinking about proving himself and helping the Browns’ goal of getting back to being a contender.
