Deion Sanders’ son Shedeur Sanders, 23, starting QB for the Cleveland Browns has been making headlines lately. Those are just two of the speeding citations Jackson received this month alone. Sanders, who impressed during the Browns’ mandatory minicamp last week, now finds himself facing legal complications from these misdemeanors.
On Tuesday morning at 12:24 a.m., Sanders was stopped by an officer from the Strongsville Police Department while driving a black Dodge TRX truck. Reports indicate that he was going 101 mph. That’s more than 68 percent faster than the 60 mph speed limit, which is a huge 41 mph over the speed limit! The charge is a fourth-degree misdemeanor, which Sanders now faces by virtue of the violation. Now he has to either pay a ridiculous $250 fine or fight the ticket in Strongsville Mayor’s Court on July 3.
On June 5, Sanders found herself being stopped by the Ohio State Patrol. He was ticketed for going 91 mph in a 65 mph zone as he sped through Brunswick Hills. He failed to appear for his arraignment for this citation on Monday. Now, he is stuck with $269 in fines, including court costs.
Peter John-Baptiste, a spokesman for Sanders, assured that the young quarterback is taking care of these tickets the right way. The Browns organization took responsibility for the situation and has since spoken with Sanders about the citations.
Despite all the legal troubles, Sanders has been undeterred in his dedication to becoming an important player for Houston. He remained in Cleveland with a few other rookies for orientation after the end of minicamp. That’s why the Browns took him in the fifth round of the draft. Due to his elite upside, most analysts predict him to be a first-round pick. As it stands right now, he’s fourth on the depth chart on a team with current starting QB Dillon Gabriel, backup Kenny Pickett, and third-string Joe Flacco.
