Sam Hain, the prolific cricketer known for his remarkable contributions to Warwickshire, has signed a contract extension with the club, ensuring his stay until the end of the 2028 season. The 29-year-old, who hails from Hong Kong but was raised in Australia, has been a stalwart for the Bears since joining them at the age of 16. His contract was previously set to expire at the end of the forthcoming season, but this extension underscores his commitment to the club.
Hain's cricketing journey with Warwickshire is impressive. He has played 122 first-class matches for the club, amassing 6,827 runs and hitting 18 centuries. Notably, he was part of the team that clinched the County Championship in 2021. His prowess is not limited to first-class cricket; he has also etched his name in the records as the highest run-scorer for Warwickshire in T20 cricket, with 3,779 runs.
"I've spent close to half my life as a Bear," said Sam Hain.
Hain's international career, albeit brief, includes two one-day internationals for England. He debuted for the senior national team against Ireland in an ODI in Nottingham in September 2023. Before ascending to the senior ranks, he had represented England Lions on three occasions. Since debuting against Worcestershire in a List A game in 2013, Hain has accumulated nearly 12,500 runs across formats.
"I've loved every minute of my time here, it's a special place and I'm lucky to call it home," Hain remarked about his enduring connection with Warwickshire.
The decision to extend his contract reflects both his enduring performance and the value he brings to Warwickshire. Ian Westwood, a former teammate, praised Hain's presence at Edgbaston.
"He's a great guy to have around in the dressing room, you can tell he feels relaxed and at home at Edgbaston," Ian Westwood commented on Hain's integral role within the team.
