In a dramatic final round at the Chevron Championship, Haeran Ryu and Yan Liu put on an ace-filled spectacular. Each carded a blemish-free 7-under 65 to share the lead. The pair’s stunning performances have carried them to the top of the tournament. In an unfortunate turn of events for the tournament favorite, Nelly Korda collapses and ends the day with a six-over PAR 77.
Ryu started her day hot, birdieing five of her first ten holes. Delacour kept the pedal down all day, ending with her seventh birdie on the final hole, the ninth. This powerful end to the campaign not only locked down her reelection, but directly underscored her track record of success on the course.
Liu matched Ryu’s masterpiece with one of her own stunning 8-under rounds. That 7-under score was a testament to the tremendous talent and determination she displayed in keeping herself in the hunt for the championship crown.
While Ryu and Liu prospered, Korda crashed badly, failing to get any momentum going. After her round, she expressed determination to improve, stating, “I’m going to go and practice and see where it takes me.” This commitment shows that competitive fire, even in the face of many holes that went wrong for her during the round.
It was a week of consistently great performances—Ariya Jutanugarn, Hye-Jin Choi, Carlotta Ciganda, Manon De Roey and Brooke Matthews all with hearts on the course. All three finished at 68. It was their steady and methodical play that had them always within striking distance of the leaders.
Lexi Thompson was the low round of the group and finished her day at 1-over par. Ingrid Lindblad had a rough stretch with a triple-bogey 7 on the par-4 14th hole. Hya Joo Kim won with a stunning score of 67. Sadly, a double-bogey on the 18th hole cost her a high finish.
Lucy Li made headlines by reaching 4-under par through 14 holes, showcasing her potential as a rising star in women’s golf.
