Chicago Bears, Rome Odunze, arguably the best receiver in this class, recently made waves on social media. He reposted that suggested the team should trade him to a franchise that would better utilize his talents. We posited that Odunze ought to be getting at least double-digit targets per game, something that Odunze was all-in on.
Even after turning pro, Odunze has focused on doing the little things that will make him a great receiver. Fangio hopes that kind of recognition starts showing itself in more opportunities on the field. Returning to practice on Thursday after battling heel and ankle injuries, Odunze expressed his determination to make an impact during the remainder of the season.
Even with all the attention brought by daddy’s explosive tweets Odunze isn’t sweating it. He added that he has no issue responding to questions raised by James Odunze’s tweets, which he sees as an honest effort.
“I don’t make a big deal out of it,” – Rome Odunze
Odunze played up his dad’s always being there. What I hoped to capture is that James Odunze is very, very serious about looking out for his son’s best interests. He added that he welcomes all the social media attention, as well as the kind words that it facilitates.
Odunze’s performance this season has been noteworthy. He’s surpassed Mooney for the team lead in targets, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. That was, until he faced the Cincinnati Bengals this past week — he was put through the suspension wringer. Even in the midst of a 47-point victory, Odunze didn’t have a catch and was targeted just three times.
With a target share of over seven per game and tied with teammate Olamide Zaccheaus for 31 receptions, the potential is surely there. He pushes himself to Hall of Fame peaks. He wants to excel on and off the field as a football player and an organizational leader.
“I’m just trying to do my job within this organization as a leader, as a person, as an individual and then as a football player. So, trying to excel at a Hall of Fame level in those aspects. That’s all I’m focused on,” – Rome Odunze
