The Milwaukee Bucks have made it official, as they have signed 23-year-old guard Rollins to a reported three-year deal. His new contract had been $12 million. This contract follows Thomas’ professional debut where he proved to be a solid player and a key cog in the Wizards’ deep rotation last year. Rollins, who was selected in the second round last year by the Golden State Warriors, has been putting himself on the map. Under head coach Doc Rivers, he’s found a reliable niche as a knockdown 3-point shooter.
On February 20, 2024, Rollins signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. He then spent the rest of that 2024-25 season in that way too. His impressive play over this stretch of time led him to being awarded a normal contract in March. This opportunity gave him even more opportunities to shine. In her first full season with the Liberty, Rollins averaged 6.2 ppg. He fully entered the NBA landscape by making 40.8% of his three-point attempts across 56 games.
This new young guard shone brightly during the final stretch of the regular season. He improved his all-around game and shone brighter than ever while replacing the injured All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. In the 19 games Rollins started when Lillard was unavailable, Rollins really increased his scoring average to 10.2 points per game. …scoring, leading the nation with 3-point shooting percentage (45.2%). Those final ten games became notable for Rollins. He averaged 12.3 points, four assists, and shot a ridiculous 58% from deep.
After his rookie contract ran out, Rollins joined the ranks of unrestricted free agents. Rather than pursuing a larger multiyear agreement from other clubs, he decided to sign a contract for the remainder of the season. His choice to re-up with the Bucks reflects his commitment to the franchise as a whole. He has confidence in his abilities as they move towards greater achievements.
