At only 23 years old, Michael Brennan had the crowd buzzing with his electrifying performance in the final round of the Bank of Utah Championship. The whole tournament was hosted on Black Desert. On Friday, Brennan carded a Sunday-like 6-under 65, which recently vaulted him to a one-stroke lead as darkness halted play. His total of 10-under 132 is the lowest score through two rounds in the history of the event.
Brennan, in 2023 competing on a sponsor exemption, made a HUGE move up the long-term leaderboard with this performance, tremendous play at its best. A highlight of his round included a spectacular 40-foot eagle putt on the par-5 ninth hole, showcasing his skill and composure under pressure.
It’s really exciting to be in a tour event,” Brennan said, looking back on his time competing in this highly exclusive event.
… because this week’s tournament is make or break for the players! The top 100 has been reduced from 125 in past years. After this week, only three tournaments will remain for competitors to secure their place among the top 100 in the FedEx Cup standings and maintain their full cards for the 2026 season.
Brennan’s impressive performance was all the more remarkable after a summer where he almost dropped out of competing this fall. I wasn’t convinced I would be playing at all this fall. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to actually be in one, that is just super cool! I’m just very grateful to be here. That’s just a small snapshot of a really funny week so far. Hopefully, it stays that way,” he remarked.
That experience playing on the Americas Tour earlier this year means his success this week came as no surprise. He earned some very valuable experience playing on the tour of the Americas this season. His ongoing success on the tour has returned a nice performance boost.
As Brennan continues to top the tournament, so does excitement for weekend rounds. With so many issues at stake and weeks left to go in this season, Advocates are growing hopeful. Fans and competitors will be eager to see how he does.
