Rising Star Jase Richardson Declares for NBA Draft Following Impressive Freshman Season

So, the guest on Huddle Up this week is Jase Richardson, freshman basketball player at Michigan State University. He’s just declared his intent to leave for the 2025 NBA Draft. The son of former Spartan and NBA star Jason Richardson, who was the No. 5 pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, Jase is already generating significant buzz as a projected lottery pick.

None of that would have had the same effect without the first-year breakout of Jace Richardson. He made the Big Ten’s All-Freshman Team in addition to earning third-team all-conference honors. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game during the year. Most impressively, he proved to be an elite shooter, knocking down 41% of his 3-point attempts.

Once inserted into the starting lineup on February 8, the electric young athlete’s performance spiked. His contributions have been invaluable while helping the Spartans through a rocky start to the year.

Looking back on his experience, Jase credits his success to his teammates and coaches who supported him along the way.

“I’m incredibly grateful to my teammates and coaches for the season we had,” – Jase Richardson.

I would attribute my success to Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, who helped teach me the finer points of the game.

“Coach Izzo taught me how to think the game through countless hours of film and conversations on and off the court,” – Jase Richardson.

As he prepares for the upcoming NBA draft combine, scheduled for May 11-18 in Chicago, Jase’s focus remains on improving his skills further. The anticipation surrounding his potential selection has intensified as scouts and analysts closely monitor his progress.
